WICHITA, Kansas – A police chase by Sedgwick County deputies Wednesday morning ended with a crash. But it’s what happened along the way that is shedding light on chase policy within the Wichita Police Department.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested after leading deputies on a chase that started at 31st Street South and Broadway and ended in the 4800 block of South Palisade. The WPD did not heed an at-large request from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department to get involved with “stop sticks,” which are designed to puncture the tires on a fleeing vehicle.
