The State Police trooper hit by a car Wednesday while helping clear debris on the U.S. 29 bypass is no longer in the intensive care unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Trooper Daniel Wilson was seriously injured when an out of control car hit him and another man as they worked to clear the debris.
The driver of the truck that lost its load, Alfred C. Perutelli III, 53, of Gladstone, also was hit.
He later died at Lynchburg General Hospital.
