A 39-year-old Savage police officer was critically hurt early this morning when he lost control of his squad car on icy roads while responding to a call and struck a tree.
Officer Frank Mackall, of Shakopee, was removed from the vehicle by Savage firefighters and airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he remains in critical condition.
