An off-duty deputy was killed New Year’s Day after his motorcycle struck a car that had turned in front of it, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East Commercial Boulevard, in Oakland Park, the BSO said.
Deputy John Blackwelder, 45, was riding his personal 2010 Honda café-style motorcycle westbound on East Commercial Boulevard. He was wearing a helmet, BSO said.
