From the Summary:
The trend analysis of the LEOKA data showed that the number of law enforcement officers killed by motor vehicle crashes has been increasing since the end of the 1990s.
The FARS data also showed a similar trend. This makes the motor vehicle crashes as one of the major causes of fatality of law enforcement officers in the line of duty in the 2000’s.
The findings from this study can be useful in providing guidelines to the law enforcement agencies to address the LEO-related motor vehicle safety issues.
