SOCORRO (KRQE) – A deadly crash caused by a police chase leaves the family of an innocent driver grieving and reflecting on memories of their sister.
Thursday afternoon police said a drug bust went bad. The suspected drug dealer rammed police cars and fled. A short time into the chase the man ran a stop sign and slammed into the car Roberta Torres, 40, was driving. She died moments later.
Juanita Apodaca is one of Torres’ three sisters. Shortly after the crash she picked up Torres’ twin sister Robin and Torres’ two children and then rushed to UNM Hospital in Albuquerque. When they got to the hospital Torres had already died.
