Training Prevents Serious Injury To Tulsa Officer

A Tulsa Police officer has a sore elbow today after he’s hit by another vehicle during a traffic stop.

Tulsa Police Sergeant Gary Otterstrom says the officer had stopped a driver near 27th and South Peoria about 2:15 this morning.

“It clipped the front end of the police unit and thje mirror brushed the officer who was conducting the car stop. He was out of the car at the time,” Otterstrom says.

The driver who hit the officer drove away and a search of the area failed to find him.

Otterstrom says training on how to position a police cruiser during a traffic stop kept the officer from any more serious injury.
