Philadelphia Officer Leaves Work & Dies In Collision

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities in Philadelphia say a police officer lost control of his personal car on a riverside drive, plunged into the water and died.

Passers-by tried to rescue 55-year-old Sgt. Stephen Naughton from the Schuylkill (SKOO’-kill) River. Police say Naughton had to be cut free from his seat belt and later died at a hospital.
