Officers get a look at next-generation police cars

It might have been Christmas, or maybe his birthday, to judge by the smile on police Chief Timothy Delaney’s face on Tuesday.

“I’m just ecstatic about these,” the police chief of Coaldale, Schuylkill County, said as he looked inside the shiny, fresh-as-a-field-smelling Ford Explorer utility vehicle sitting alongside a second car, a police cruiser.

“I just can’t wait until they’re out, because it looks like a police officer built this.”

All around him, the New Holland Auto Group Ford showroom was packed with some 200 police officers, including many chiefs just like him, from across central and northern Pennsylvania, all there for a sneak peek.

The sneak peek was at something near and dear to their hearts — a new generation of Ford police vehicle.
