Homicide suspect rams police car during chase

A suspect in a Carroll County, Mo., homicide rammed an Independence patrol car during a police pursuit Tuesday afternoon, injuring the officer.

Independence had been alerted by Carroll County that a person of interest, considered armed and dangerous, could be headed toward 23rd Street and Missouri 291.

Upon sighting the suspect’s truck, Independence officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and then pursued it through eastern Independence, mostly along Truman Road. When the suspect neared Truman and Owens School roads, he began driving across a farm field, said Maj. Gregg Wilkinson of the Independence police.
