A probationer was in critical condition Thursday morning after he crashed his pickup truck into a parked SUV in Santa Ana and injured a family of four inside as he was being chased by police while high on methamphetamine, police said.
All four victims– a husband, wife and their 8- and 10-year-old sons, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash at the intersection of Brown and Garfield streets around 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Eric Paulson.
Officers pulled a male driver over for an unspecified narcotics-related violation, but he sped off, triggering a chase, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
The man was on probation and later admitted to being high on methamphetamine, he said.
