MIAMI (WSVN) — Two young boys are recovering in the hospital after they were struck during a police chase.
According to authorities, police were chasing a stolen sport utility vehicle when the driver struck two 5-year-old boys near Northwest 39th Place in Miami Gardens, Sunday night. “A big boom, a big boom. I jumped up and ran out and I saw the commotion,” said James Ridley, the victims’ great-grandfather.
The boys were reportedly playing outside of their grandparents’ home at the time of the incident.
The victims’ family said that the suspect was driving at a high rate of speed as he tried to evade authorities. The driver reportedly struck several cars, which caused a chain reaction and led to the 5-year-old boys getting hit.
